So sad this is the final Six Sentence Sunday. I've made lots of wonderful new friends through the SSS site and have come to look forward to reading their excerpts every week. I intend to keep posting snippets and hope many of the other SSS participants will as well.
Last week I shared a scene that showed the changing relationship between Sam and JoJo, the main characters in Shades of Blue, my coming-of-age/YA novel. This week features JoJo's older sister Sarah asking about some news she heard about Sam.
“Why didn’t you tell me Sam’s going out for football next year?”
“He’s not, where’d you hear that?”
She got up and took the comb from me to work it through my damp hair and said, “Frankie and Sean were talking about it last night when we doubled with him and Karen. Some of the JV players went to Greenbrier last week with Coach Morton to recruit eighth graders for next year, and Frankie thinks Sam’s arm is good enough to make JV.”
“Are you sure they didn’t mean another Sam?”
“Yeah, because they called him ‘the tramp’s kid brother.’”
Tune in next week to meet "the tramp," Sam's stepsister Britney, and find out how she gets along with JoJo.

Such a great scene. Love these characters. I love reading your six sentences every week. I'm sad to see this ending.
Nice scene here, and great way to slip in some characterization!
so what happened with the other story? I went on holiday and now it's gone. Did she find the killer?
I didn't want to give everything away in that one, Sue. Hopefully, PENANCE will be published soon and you can read the whole thing. I think you'll find the ending gratifying. ;-)
